The example of failed social media marketing could be Gap in 2013. It is mainly because of the inappropriate content in social media. There was a hurricane Sandy in New York, which was the hot topic on twitter at that time. To catch up the train of hot topic, Gap put a twitter announced “There’s a Hurricane, Let’s Go To The Gap” which misleading customer in purchasing Gap products instead of doing something useful to face the horrible hurricane.

For example, I have bought many makeup products on Tmall. As a result of it, there are more make up related products advertising showing on my customized app home page. In addition, some information about skin care products will also be pushed to me by Tmall. It could be based on the association analysis of Alibaba since people who love makeup also could also have a need for skin care products.

Predictive Analytics is quite useful in nowadays, which can be benefit to customers and companies both.

For example, according to the record data of customers viewing, online shop owner of Taobao can know what popular or unpopular items are, and then they can increase or decrease inventory immediately to service customers. It can help company use capital efficiently.
